Peter Maddison
Architect Peter Maddison from the television show Grand Designs Australia is the Melbourne Open House official Ambassador.
Peter Maddison has a Bachelor of Architecture from RMIT. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects, a Senior Counsellor of the Australian Institute of Architects, and a member of the Small Practice Forum of the Australian Institute of Architects.
Peter is an award-winning architect and sole Director of Maddison Architects Pty Ltd, a practice he started in 1988. His projects include a huge range of award-winning residential and commercial projects.
Peter's experience commenced in 1978 as a student with Peter Crone and Associates. He subsequently worked with Morris and Pirotta Architects, Cocks and Carmichael Architects, and was a Partner with McIntyre Partnership Architects and Urban Planners, before founding his own practice.
An experienced architect who understands Australian architecture and our climate, culture and history, Peter took on the role of Host of The LifeStyle Channel's Australian production of Grand Designs in August 2009. With the ability to express complicated architectural features in simple terms, Peter is also not afraid to speak his mind, and that honesty is very Australian.
Grand Designs Australia was the most watched Lifestyle Channel series during its first season in 2010, attracting 1.5 million viewers. He is currently filming Series 2, due to air in 2012, and planning Grand Designs Live Home Show for October 2011 in Sydney.
